حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدٌ ثنا أَبُو بَكْرٍ ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرٍ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ سَعْدِ بْنِ زُرَارَةَ قَالَ
قُدِمَ بِأُسَارَى بَدْرٍ وَسَوْدَةُ بِنْتُ زَمْعَةَ عِنْدِ آلِ عَفْرَاءَ فِي مَنَاخِهِمْ عَلَى عَوْفٍ وَمُعَوِّذٍ ابْنِي عَفْرَاءَ وَذَلِكَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يُضْرَبَ عَلَيْهِنَّ الْحِجَابُ قَالَتْ فَقِيلَ قُدِمَ بِأُسَارَى بَدْرٍ فَأَتَيْتُ مَنْزِلِي فَإِذَا أَنَا بِسُهَيْلِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو وَفِي نَاحِيَةِ الْحُجْرَةِ مَجْمُوعَةٌ يَدَاهُ إِلَى عُنُقَهِ فَلَمَّا رَأَيْتُهُ مَا مَلَكَتُ نَفْسِي قُلْتُ أَبَا يَزِيدَ أُعْطِيتُمْ مَا بِأَيْدِيكُمْ أَلَا مُتُّمْ كِرَامًا؟ قَالَتْ فَوَاللهِ مَا نَبَّهَنِي إِلَّا قَوْلُ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ مِنْ دَاخِلِ الْبَيْتِ «أَعَلَى اللهِ وَعَلَى رَسُولِهِ؟» فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنْ مَلَكْتُ نَفْسِي حَتَّى رَأَيْتُ أَبَا يَزِيدَ أَنْ قُلْتُ مَا قُلْتُ

✧ The captives of Badr were brought while Sawdah bint Zam'ah was with the family of 'Afra' at their camel resting place, at 'Awf and Mu'awwidh, the two sons of 'Afra'. That was before the veil was imposed on them. She said: It was said, 'The captives of Badr have been brought.' So I went to my dwelling and there I saw Suhayl b. 'Amr, his hands bound together to his neck in a corner of the room. When I saw him, I could not control myself and said, 'Abu Yazid, you surrendered what was in your hands. Why did you not die nobly?' She said: By Allah, nothing alerted me except the words of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ from inside the house: 'Against Allah and His Messenger?' I said, 'O Messenger of Allah, I could not control myself when I saw Abu Yazid, so I said what I said.'
