حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ الْمَكِّيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ عَوْنٍ النِّيلِيُّ ثنا الْحَارِثُ بْنُ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ أَبِي أُمِّهِ
أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقُولُ إِنَّ عِنْدِي لَحَدِيثًا لَوْ أَرَدْتُ أَنْ آكُلَ بِهِ الدُّنْيَا لَأَكَلْتُهَا وَلَكِنْ لَا يَسْأَلُنِي اللهُ عَنْ حَدِيثٍ أَرْفَعُهُ إِلَى السُّلْطَانِ قَالَ أَبِي فَقُلْتُ مَا هُوَ؟ فَقَالَ لَمَّا خَرَجَ زَيْدٌ أَتَيْتُ خَالَتِي الْغَدَ فَقُلْتُ لَهَا يَا أُمَّهُ قَدْ خَرَجَ زَيْدٌ فَقَالَتْ الْمِسْكِينُ يُقْتُلُ كَمَا قُتِلَ آبَاؤُهُ فَقُلْتُ لَهَا إِنَّهُ خَرَجَ مَعَهُ ذَوُو الْحِجَى فَقَالَتْ كُنْتُ عِنْدَ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ زَوْجِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَتَذَاكَرُوا الْخِلَافَةَ فَقَالَتْ أُمُّ سَلَمَةَ كُنْتُ عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَتَذَاكَرُوا الْخِلَافَةَ بَعْدَهُ فَقَالُوا وَلَدُ فَاطِمَةَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَنْ يَصِلُوا إِلَيْهَا أَبَدًا وَلَكِنَّهَا فِي وَلَدِ عَمِّي صِنْوِ أَبِي حَتَّى يُسْلِمُوهَا إِلَى الدَّجَّالِ»

✧ He used to say: I have a hadith which, if I wanted to consume the world by means of it, I would consume it, but Allah will not ask me about a hadith I raise to the ruler. My father said: I said: What is it? He said: When Zayd went out, I came to my maternal aunt the next day and said to her: O mother, Zayd has gone out. She said: The poor man, he will be killed as his fathers were killed. I said to her: Men of understanding have gone out with him. She said: I was with Umm Salamah, the wife of the Prophet ﷺ, when they discussed the caliphate. Umm Salamah said: I was with the Prophet ﷺ when they discussed the caliphate after him. They said: The descendants of Fatimah. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “They will never attain it, ever; rather it will be among the descendants of my paternal uncle, my father’s full brother, until they hand it over to the Dajjal.”
