حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ سِنَانَ ثنا أَبِي ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ أَنَا قُرَيْشُ بْنُ حَيَّانَ الْبَجَلِيُّ حَدَّثَتْنَا أَمَةُ اللهِ بِنْتُ مَذْعُورٍ عَنْ أُمِّهَا قَالَتْ
دَخَلْتُ عَلَى أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ وَهِيَ تُصَلِّي فِي دِرْعٍ وَخِمَارٍ فَسَأَلْتُهَا عَنِ الْعَلَمِ فِي الثَّوْبِ فَقَالَتْ «كُنَّا نَلْبَسُ مِثْلَ هَذَا الثَّوْبِ لِثَوْبٍ عَلَيْهَا فِيهَا عَلَمٌ حَرِيرٌ عَلَى عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ»

✧ I entered upon Umm Salamah while she was praying in a shift and a headcover. I asked her about decorative embroidery on a garment. She said: “We used to wear a garment like this — referring to a garment she had with silk embroidery on it — in the time of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.”
