حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ثنا مُعَاذُ بْنُ أَسَدٍ ثنا ابْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَلِيِّ بْنِ عُمَرَ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي عَنْ كُرَيْبٍ قَالَ
أَرْسَلَنِي ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ وَأُنَاسٌ إِلَى أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ أَسْأَلُهَا أَيُّ الْأَيَّامِ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ أَكْثَرَ صِيَامًا؟ قَالَتْ «يَوْمُ السَّبْتِ وَالْأَحَدِ أَكْثَرُ مَا يَصُومُ مِنَ الْأَيَّامِ» وَيَقُولُ «إِنَّهُمَا يَوْمَا عِيدٍ لِلْمُشْرِكِينَ فَإِنِّي أُحِبُّ أَنْ أُخَالِفَهُمْ»

✧ Ibn 'Abbas and some people sent me to Umm Salamah to ask her which days the Messenger of God ﷺ fasted most. She said, “Saturday and Sunday were the days he fasted most of all, and he would say, ‘They are the two festival days of the polytheists, so I like to differ from them.’”
