حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدٌ ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ثنا أَبُو مُعَاوِيَةَ عَنِ الْأَعْمَشِ عَنْ شَقِيقٍ عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ قَالَتْ
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِذَا حَضَرْتُمُ الْمَرِيضَ أَوِ الْمَيِّتَ فَقُولُوا خَيْرًا فَإِنَّ الْمَلَائِكَةَ يُؤَمِّنُونَ عَلَى مَا تَقُولُونَ» قَالَتْ فَلَمَّا مَاتَ أَبُو سَلَمَةَ أَتَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ أَبَا سَلَمَةَ قَدْ مَاتَ فَقَالَ «قُولِي اللهُمَّ اغْفِرْ لِي وَلَهُ وَأَعْقِبْنِي مِنْهُ عُقْبَى حَسَنَةً» فَفَعَلْتُ فَأَعْقَبَنِي اللهُ مَنْ هُوَ خَيْرٌ مِنْهُ مُحَمَّدًا ﷺ

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ said: “When you attend a sick person or a deceased person, say good, for the angels say ‘Amin’ to what you say.” She said: When Abu Salamah died, I came to the Prophet ﷺ and said: “O Messenger of God, Abu Salamah has died.” He said: “Say: O God, forgive me and him, and grant me a good successor after him.” I did so, and God gave me as a successor one better than him: Muhammad ﷺ.
