حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ غَنَّامٍ ثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ إِدْرِيسَ عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي زِيَادٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ قَالَ
أَرْسَلَ مُعَاوِيَةُ إِلَى أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ فَانْطَلَقَتْ مَعَ الرَّسُولِ فَسَأَلَ أُمَّ سَلَمَةَ فَقَالَتْ إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَدْ نَهَى عَنْهَا يَعْنِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ إِنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ بَيْنَمَا هُوَ فِي بَيْتِي يَتَوَضَّأُ لِلظُّهْرِ وَكَانَ قَدْ بَعَثَ سَاعِيًا وَعِنْدَهُ الْمُهَاجِرُونَ وَقَدْ كَانَ يُهِمُّهُ شَأْنُهُمْ إِذْ ضَرَبَ الْبَابُ فَخَرَجَ فَصَلَّى الظُّهْرَ ثُمَّ جَاءَ فَقَسَمَ مَا جَاءَ بِهِ فَلَمْ يَزَلْ كَذَلِكَ حَتَّى صَلَّى الْعَصْرَ ثُمَّ دَخَلَ مَنْزِلَهُ فَصَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ ثُمَّ قَالَ «شَغَلَنِي أَمْرُ السَّاعِي أَنْ أُصَلِّيَهُمَا بَعْدَ الظُّهْرِ فَصَلَّيْتُهُمَا بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ»

✧ Mu'awiyah sent for Umm Salamah, so she went with the messenger. He asked Umm Salamah, and she said: “The Prophet ﷺ forbade them—meaning the two rak'ahs after 'Asr. The Prophet ﷺ was in my house performing wudu' for Zuhr, and he had sent out a zakat collector. The Muhajirun were with him, and their situation was preoccupying him, when someone knocked at the door. He went out and prayed Zuhr, then came back and distributed what had been brought. He remained occupied like that until he prayed 'Asr, then entered his home and prayed two rak'ahs, after which he said, 'The matter of the zakat collector kept me busy from praying them after Zuhr, so I prayed them after 'Asr.'”
