حَدَّثَنَا طَالِبُ بْنُ قُرَّةَ الْأَذَنِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عِيسَى الطَّبَّاعُ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَانُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ وَمَحْمُودُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْوَاسِطِيُّ قَالَا ثنا زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ يَحْيَى زَحْمَوَيْهِ قَالَا ثنا فَرَجُ بْنُ فَضَالَةَ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ عَنْ عَمْرَةَ عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ قَالَتْ
كَانَتْ لَنَا شَاةٌ نَحْلُبُهَا فَفَقَدَهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ «مَا فَعَلَتْ شَاتُكُمْ؟» قَالُوا مَاتَتْ قَالَ «مَا فَعَلْتُمْ بِإِهَابِهَا؟» قَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَلْقَيْنَاهُ قَالَ «أَفَلَا انْتَفَعْتُمْ بِهِ؟ فَإِنَّ دِبَاغُهَا ذَكَاتُهَا يَحِلُّ كَمَا يَحِلُّ الْخَلُّ مِنَ الْخَمْرِ»

✧ We had a sheep that we used to milk, and the Messenger of God ﷺ missed it and said: 'What happened to your sheep?' They said: 'It died.' He said: 'What did you do with its hide?' They said: 'O Messenger of God, we threw it away.' He said: 'Why did you not make use of it? For its tanning is its purification; it becomes lawful just as vinegar becomes lawful from wine.'
