حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا عَاصِمُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ثنا قَيْسُ بْنُ الرَّبِيعِ عَنْ جَامِعِ بْنِ شَدَّادٍ عَنْ كُلْثُومٍ الْخُزَاعِيِّ عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ
أَنَّهَا كَانَتْ تُفَلِّي رَأْسَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَجَاءَتْ زَيْنَبُ امْرَأَةُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ فَجَعَلَتْ تُكَلِّمُنِي وَأُكَلِّمُهَا وَرَفَعْتُ بَصَرِي إِلَيْهَا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «أَقْبِلِي عَلَى فِلَايَتِكِ فَإِنَّكِ لَسْتِ تُكَلِّمِينَهَا بِعَيْنَيْكِ» قَالَتْ زَيْنَبُ فَجَعَلْتُ أَشْكُو ضِيقَ الْمَسْكَنِ فَقَالَ هَذَا كَمَا صَنَعَتِ امْرَأَةُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ مَظْعُونٍ لَمْ يَسَعُهَا مَا نَزَلَتْ حَتَّى نَزَلَ عَلَى رَأْسِهَا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «كَذَاكَ مَنِ اخْتَطَّ خُطَّةً بِالْمَدِينَةِ مِنَ الْمُهَاجِرَاتِ فَلَهَا خِطَّتُهَا فَوَرِثَتْ نَصِيبَهَا مِنْ دَارِ عَبْدِ اللهِ وَأَحْرَزَتْ دَارَهَا بِالْمَدِينَةِ»

✧ She was delousing the head of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ when Zaynab, the wife of 'Abdullah b. Mas'ud, came and began talking to me while I talked to her, and I raised my eyes to her. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Attend to your delousing, for you are not talking to her with your eyes." Zaynab said: "Then I began to complain of the narrowness of the dwelling." He said: "This is just as the wife of 'Uthman b. Maz'un did; her place did not suffice her until she moved onto his head." The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: "Thus it is for any emigrant woman who stakes out a plot in Madinah; she has her plot." So she inherited her share from 'Abdullah's house and secured her house in Madinah.
