حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا أَبُو حُذَيْفَةَ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ التَّمَّارُ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ كَثِيرٍ قَالَا ثنا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ قَالَتْ
قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنَّ عَمِّي هِشَامَ بْنَ الْمُغِيرَةِ كَانَ يُطْعِمُ الطَّعَامَ وَيَصِلُ الرَّحِمَ وَيَفْعَلُ وَيَفْعَلُ فَلَوْ أَدْرَكَكَ لَأَسْلَمَ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «كَانَ يُعْطِي لِلدُّنْيَا وَحْدَهَا وَذِكْرِهَا وَمَا قَالَ يَوْمًا قَطُّ اغْفِرْ لِي يَوْمَ الدِّينِ»

✧ I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, my uncle Hisham b. al-Mughirah used to feed people, maintain family ties, and do such and such. If he had met you, he would have become Muslim.' The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: 'He used to give for the sake of this world alone and its remembrance, and he never once said: Forgive me on the Day of Judgment.'
