حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ أَبِي الطَّاهِرِ بْنِ السَّرْحِ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ ثنا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ
عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ {يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا لَا تَتَّبِعُوا خُطُوَاتِ الشَّيْطَانِ} يَعْنِي «تَزْيِينَ الشَّيْطَانِ حَتَّى قَذَفَ عَائِشَةَ» {وَمَنْ يَتَّبِعْ خُطُوَاتِ الشَّيْطَانِ} يَعْنِي «تَزْيِينَ الشَّيْطَانِ» {فَإِنَّهُ يَأْمُرُ بِالْفَحْشَاءِ} يَعْنِي «بِالْمَعَاصِيِ» {وَالْمُنْكَرِ} «مَا لَا يُعْرَفُ يَعْنِي مِثْلَ مَا قِيلَ لِعَائِشَةَ» {وَلَوْلَا فَضْلُ اللهِ عَلَيْكُمْ وَرَحْمَتُهُ} يَعْنِي «نِعْمَتَهُ» {مَا زَكَا مِنْكُمْ مِنْ أَحَدٍ} يَعْنِي «مَا صَلُحَ مِنْكُمْ مِنْ أَحَدٍ أَبَدًا» {وَلَكِنَّ اللهَ يُزَكِّي مَنْ يَشَاءُ} يَعْنِي «يُصْلِحُ مَنْ يَشَاءُ»

✧ From Sa'id b. Jubayr: {O you who believe, do not follow the footsteps of Satan} – meaning, “Satan's beautification until he slandered 'A'ishah.” {And whoever follows the footsteps of Satan} – meaning, “Satan's beautification.” {For he commands immorality} – meaning, “acts of disobedience,” {and wrongdoing} – “what is not recognized, meaning like what was said about 'A'ishah.” {And had it not been for the favor of Allah upon you and His mercy} – meaning, “His blessing,” {none of you would have been pure} – meaning, “none of you would ever have been righteous.” {But Allah purifies whom He wills} – meaning, “He makes righteous whom He wills.”
