حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ أَبِي الطَّاهِرِ ثنا يَحْيَى بْنُ بُكَيْرٍ ثنا ابْنُ لَهِيعَةَ عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ دِينَارٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ {إِنَّ الَّذِينَ} يَعْنِي «مَنْ قَذَفَ عَائِشَةَ» {يُحِبُّونَ أَنْ تَشِيعَ الْفَاحِشَةُ} يَعْنِي
«أَنْ يَفْشُوَ وَيَظْهَرَ الزِّنَا» {فِي الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا} يَعْنِي «صَفْوَانَ وَعَائِشَةَ» {لَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ} يَعْنِي «وَجِيعٌ» {فِي الدُّنْيَا وَالْآخِرَةِ} فَكَانَ عَذَابُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أُبَيٍّ فِي الدُّنْيَا الْحَدَّ وَفِي الْآخِرَةِ عَذَابَ النَّارِ {وَاللهُ يَعْلَمُ وَأَنْتُمْ لَا تَعْلَمُونَ}

✧ "That it should become widespread and apparent, i.e., adultery." {Among those who believe} meaning "Safwan and 'A'ishah." {For them is a painful punishment} meaning "painful." {In this world and the Hereafter} So the punishment of 'Abd Allah b. Ubayy in this world was the prescribed punishment, and in the Hereafter the punishment of the Fire. {And Allah knows, and you do not know}.
