✧ The Marriage of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to Khadijah, Her Age, Her Death, and Some of Her Stories

حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدَّبَرِيُّ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ قَالَ

«أَوَّلُ امْرَأَةٍ تَزَوَّجَهَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ خَدِيجَةَ ثُمَّ تَزَوَّجَ سَوْدَةَ بِنْتَ زَمْعَةَ ثُمَّ نَكَحَ عَائِشَةَ بِمَكَّةَ وَبَنَى بِهَا بِالْمَدِينَةِ وَنَكَحَ بِالْمَدِينَةِ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتَ خُزَيْمَةَ الْهِلَالِيَّةَ ثُمَّ نَكَحَ أُمَّ سَلَمَةَ ثُمَّ نَكَحَ جُوَيْرِيَةَ بِنْتَ الْحَارِثِ فَكَانَتْ مِمَّا أَفَاءَ اللهُ عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ نَكَحَ مَيْمُونَةَ بِنْتَ الْحَارِثِ وَهِيَ الَّتِي وَهَبَتْ نَفْسَهَا لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ ثُمَّ نَكَحَ صَفِيَّةَ بِنْتَ حُيَيٍّ وَهِيَ مِمَّا أَفَاءَ اللهُ عَلَيْهِ يَوْمَ خَيْبَرَ ثُمَّ نَكَحَ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتَ جَحْشٍ وَكَانَتِ امْرَأَةَ زَيْدِ بْنِ حَارِثَةَ وَتُوُفِّيَتْ زَيْنَبُ بِنْتُ خُزَيْمَةَ عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَخَدِيجَةُ أَيْضًا تُوُفِّيَتْ بِمَكَّةَ وَنَكَحَ امْرَأَةً مِنْ بَنِي كِلَابٍ مِنْ بَنِي رَبِيعَةَ يُقَالُ لَهَا الْعَالِيَةُ بِنْتُ ظَبْيَانَ فَطَلَّقَهَا حِينَ أُدْخِلَتْ عَلَيْهِ»

✧ "The first woman whom the Messenger of Allah ﷺ married was Khadijah. Then he married Sawdah bint Zam'ah. Then he contracted marriage with 'A'ishah in Makkah and consummated it with her in Madinah. In Madinah he married Zaynab bint Khuzaymah al-Hilaliyyah. Then he married Umm Salamah. Then he married Juwayriyyah bint al-Harith; she was among those whom Allah granted him as spoils. Then he married Maymunah bint al-Harith—she was the one who gave herself to the Prophet ﷺ. Then he married Safiyyah bint Huyayy; she was among those whom Allah granted him as spoils on the day of Khaybar. Then he married Zaynab bint Jahsh, who had been the wife of Zayd b. Harithah. Zaynab bint Khuzaymah died while married to the Prophet ﷺ, and Khadijah also died in Makkah. He married a woman from Banu Kilab of Banu Rabi'ah called al-'Aliyah bint Zabyan, and he divorced her when she was brought in to him."
