✧ The Marriage of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ to Khadijah, Her Age, Her Death, and Some of Her Stories

حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ أَعْيَنَ الْبَغْدَادِيُّ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْأَشْعَثِ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْمِقْدَامِ ثنا زُهَيْرُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ ثنا الْقَيْسِيُّ ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَرُوبَةَ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ قَالَ

«تَزَوَّجَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ خَمْسَ عَشْرَةَ امْرَأَةً مِنْهُنَّ سِتٌّ مِنْ قُرَيْشٍ وَوَاحِدَةٌ مِنْ حُلَفَاءِ قُرَيْشٍ وَسَبْعٌ مِنْ سَائِرِ الْعَرَبِ وَوَاحِدَةٌ مِنْ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ وَلَمْ يَتَزَوَّجْ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ مِنْهُنَّ غَيْرَ وَاحِدَةٍ وَلَمْ تَلِدْ لَهُ مِنْهُنَّ غَيْرُهَا فَأَوَّلُ مَنْ تَزَوَّجَ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ خَدِيجَةَ بِنْتَ خُوَيْلِدِ بْنِ أَسَدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعُزَّى بْنِ قُصَيٍّ وَكَانَتْ قَبْلَهُ عِنْدَ عَتِيقِ بْنِ عَائِذِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ بْنِ مَخْزُومٍ ثُمَّ خَلَفَ عَلَيْهَا بَعْدَ عَتِيقٍ أَبُو هَالَةَ هِنْدُ بْنُ زُرَارَةَ بْنِ نَبَّاشِ بْنِ حَبِيبِ بْنِ صُرَدِ بْنِ سَلَامَةَ بْنِ جَرْوَةَ بْنِ أَسِيدِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ تَمِيمٍ فَوَلَدَتْ لَهُ هِنْدَ بْنَ هِنْدٍ» قَالَ زُهَيْرٌ قَالَ يُونُسُ بْنُ عُبَيْدٍ فَمَرَّ هِنْدُ بِالْبَصْرَةِ مُجْتَازًا فَهَلَكَ بِهَا فَلَمْ يَقُمْ سُوقٌ وَلَا كَلَأٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ فَتَزَوَّجَهَا النَّبِيُّ ﷺ بَعْدَهُمَا فَوَلَدَتْ لَهُ فِي الْجَاهِلِيَّةِ عَبْدَ مَنَافٍ وَوَلَدَتْ لَهُ فِي الْإِسْلَامِ غُلَامَيْنِ وَأَرْبَعَ بَنَاتٍ

✧ "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ married fifteen women. Of them, six were from Quraysh, one from the allies of Quraysh, seven from the rest of the Arabs, and one from the Children of Israel. In the Jahiliyyah, he married only one of them, and only she bore him children. The first woman he married in the Jahiliyyah was Khadijah bint Khuwaylid b. Asad b. 'Abd al-'Uzza b. Qusayy. Before him, she had been married to 'Atiq b. 'A'idh b. 'Abd Allah b. 'Umar b. Makhzum. Then after 'Atiq, Abu Halah Hind b. Zurarah b. Nabbash b. Habib b. Surad b. Salamah b. Jarwah b. Usayd b. 'Amr b. Tamim succeeded to her marriage. She bore him Hind b. Hind." Zuhayr said: Yunus b. 'Ubayd said: Hind passed through al-Basrah while traveling, and he died there; on that day neither market nor pasture was held. The Prophet ﷺ married her after those two. She bore him in the Jahiliyyah 'Abd Manaf, and she bore him in Islam two boys and four girls.
