حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ ثنا هُدْبَةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ عَنْ دَاوُدَ بْنِ أَبِي هِنْدٍ عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي جَبِيرَةَ بْنِ الضَّحَّاكِ قَالَ

كَانَ الْأَنْصَارُ يَتَصَدَّقُونَ وَيَعْطُونَ مَا شَاءَ اللهُ فَأَصَابَتْهُمْ سَنَةٌ فَأَمْسَكُوا فَأَنْزَلَ اللهُ {وَلَا تُلْقُوا بِأَيْدِيكُمْ إِلَى التَّهْلُكَةِ}

✧ The Ansar used to give charity and give what God willed, then a year of drought befell them and they withheld, so God revealed: {And do not throw yourselves into destruction}.
