حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ سَلْمٍ أَبُو يَحْيَى الرَّازِيُّ ثنا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ الزِّبْرِقَانِ الْكُوفِيُّ ثنا الْمُطَّلِبُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى عَنْ عِيسَى قَالَ
دَخَلْنَا عَلَى أَبِي مَعْبَدٍ الْجُهَنِيِّ نَعُودُهُ فَقُلْنَا أَلَا تُعِلِّقُ شَيْئًا؟ قَالَ الْمَوْتُ أَقْرَبُ مِنْ ذَلِكَ إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «مَنْ عَلَّقَ شَيْئًا وُكِلَ إِلَيْهِ»
Translation
Chain of narrators
- ʿAbd al-Raḥman b. Salm Abū Yaḥyá al-Rāzī
✧ We entered upon Abu Ma'bad al-Juhani to visit him. We said: 'Will you not hang something (as an amulet)?' He said: 'Death is closer than that. I heard the Messenger of God ﷺ say: Whoever hangs something (as an amulet), he is entrusted to it.'
