حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ السَّمَيْدَعِ الْأَنْطَاكِيُّ ثنا مُوسَى بْنُ أَيُّوبَ النَّصِيبِيُّ قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ بْنُ الزُّبَيْرِ عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ قَيْسٍ عَنْ صَعْصَعَةَ بْنِ السُّوَايِ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي الْخَرِيفِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ قَالَ
أَتَيْتُ أَنَا وَأَخِي رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ وَهُوَ فِي مَسْجِدِ الْخَيْفِ يُصَلِّي وَقَدْ صَلَّيْنَا الْمَكْتُوبَةَ فِي الْبَيْتِ فَلَمْ نُصَلِّ مَعَهُمْ فَقَالَ «مَا مَنَعَكُمَا أَنْ تُصَلِّيَا مَعَنَا؟» قُلْنَا قَدْ كُنَّا صَلَّيْنَا الْمَكْتُوبَةَ فِي الْبَيْتِ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِذَا صَلَّى الرَّجُلُ الْمَكْتُوبَةَ فِي الْبَيْتِ ثُمَّ أَدْرَكَ جَمَاعَةً فَلْيُصَلِّ مَعَهُمْ فَتَكُونُ صَلَاتُهُ فِي بَيْتِهِ نَافِلَةً»

✧ My brother and I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ while he was in the mosque of al-Khayf praying, and we had already prayed the obligatory prayer in the house, so we did not pray with them. He said: “What prevented you two from praying with us?” We said: “We had already prayed the obligatory prayer in the house.” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “When a man prays the obligatory prayer in his house and then finds a congregation, let him pray with them, and his prayer in his house will be a supererogatory prayer.”
