حَدَّثَنَا الْمِقْدَامُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ ثنا أَسَدُ بْنُ مُوسَى ح وَحَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا حَجَّاجُ بْنُ الْمِنْهَالِ قَالَا ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ سَلَمَةَ ثنا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ أَبِي طَلْحَةَ عَنْ أَبِي الْمُنْذِرِ مَوْلَى أَبِي ذَرٍّ عَنْ أَبِي أُمَيَّةَ الْمَخْزُومِيِّ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ «أُتِيَ بِسَارِقٍ اعْتَرَفَ اعْتِرَافًا لَمْ تُوجَدْ مَعَهُ مَتَاعٌ» فَقَالَ «مَا إِخَالُكَ سَرَقْتَ؟» قَالَ بَلَى قَالَ «مَا إِخَالُكَ سَرَقْتَ؟» قَالَ بَلَى قَالَ «فَاذْهَبُوا بِهِ فَاقْطَعُوا يَدَهُ» قَالَ فَقَطَعُوا يَدَهُ ثُمَّ جَاءُوا بِهِ فَقَالَ «اسْتَغْفِرِ اللهَ وَتُبْ إِلَيْهِ» قَالَ أَسْتَغْفِرُ اللهَ وَأَتُوبُ إِلَيْهِ قَالَ «اللهُمَّ تُبْ عَلَيْهِ اللهُمَّ تُبْ عَلَيْهِ»

✧ A thief was brought to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ who confessed a confession, but no goods were found with him. He said: "I do not think you stole." He said: "Yes, I did." He said: "I do not think you stole." He said: "Yes, I did." He said: "Take him and cut off his hand." So they cut off his hand. Then they brought him, and he said: "Ask Allah for forgiveness and repent to Him." He said: "I ask Allah for forgiveness and repent to Him." He said: "O Allah, turn to him in mercy; O Allah, turn to him in mercy."
