حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ الْأَسْفَاطِيُّ ثنا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ قَالَا حَدَّثَنَا أَبَانُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ عَنْ قَتَادَةَ عَنْ شَهْرِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ عَنْ أَبِي عُبَيْدٍ

أَنَّهُ طَبَخَ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ قِدْرًا فَقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «نَاوِلْنِي ذِرَاعًا وَكَانَ يُعْجِبُهُ الذِّرَاعُ فَنَاوَلْتُهُ الذِّرَاعَ» ثُمَّ قَالَ «نَاوِلْنِي الذِّرَاعَ فَنَاوَلْتُهُ الذِّرَاعَ» قَالَ «نَاوِلْنِي الذِّرَاعَ» فَقُلْتُ يَا نَبِيَّ اللهِ وَكَمْ لِلشَّاةِ مِنْ ذِرَاعٍ فَقَالَ «وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ لَوْ سَكَتَّ لَأَعْطَيْتَنِي أَذْرُعًا مَا دَعَوْتُ بِهِ»

✧ "He cooked a pot for the Prophet ﷺ, and the Prophet ﷺ said to him: 'Hand me a foreleg'—and he used to like the foreleg—so I handed him the foreleg. Then he said: 'Hand me the foreleg,' so I handed him the foreleg. He said: 'Hand me the foreleg,' and I said: 'O Prophet of God, how many forelegs does a sheep have?' He said: 'By the One in whose hand is my soul, if you had remained silent, you would have given me forelegs as long as I asked for it.'"
