حَدَّثَنَا مُطَّلِبُ بْنُ شُعَيْبٍ الْأَزْدِيُّ ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ صَالِحٍ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا الْمِقْدَامُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ ثنا أَسَدُ بْنُ مُوسَى قَالَا ثنا اللَّيْثُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ قَالَ حَدَّثَنِي سَعِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْمَقْبُرِيُّ عَنْ أَبِي شُرَيْحٍ الْعَدَوِيُّ أَنَّهُ قَالَ لِعَمْرِو بْنِ سَعِيدٍ وَهُوَ يَبْعَثُ الْبُعُوثَ إِلَى مَكَّةَ ائْذَنْ لِي أَيُّهَا الْأَمِيرُ

أَنْ أُحَدِّثُكَ قَوْلًا قَامَ بِهِ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ الْغَدَ مِنْ يَوْمِ الْفَتْحِ سَمِعَتْهُ أُذُنَايَ وَوَعَاهُ قَلْبِي وَأَبْصَرَتْهُ عَيْنَايَ حِينَ تَكَلَّمَ بِهِ أَنَّهُ حَمِدَ اللهَ وَأثْنَى عَلَيْهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ إِنَّ مَكَّةَ حَرَّمَهَا اللهُ وَلَمْ يُحَرِّمْهَا النَّاسُ وَلَا يَحِلُّ لِامْرِئٍ يُؤْمِنُ بِاللهِ وَالْيَوْمِ الْآخِرِ أَنْ يَسْفِكَ بِهَا دَمًا وَلَا يَعْضِدُ بِهَا شَجَرَةً فَإِنْ أَحَدٌ تَرَخَّصَ لِقِتَالِ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقُولُوا لَهُ إِنَّ اللهَ أَذِنَ لِرَسُولِهِ وَلَمْ يَأْذَنْ لَكُمْ وَإِنَّمَا أَذِنَ لِي فِيهَا سَاعَةً مِنْ نَهَارٍ وَقَدْ عَادَتْ حُرْمَتُهَا الْيَوْمَ كَحُرْمَتِهَا بِالْأَمْسِ فَلْيُبَلِّغِ الشَّاهِدُ الْغَائِبَ فَقِيلَ لِأَبِي شُرَيْحٍ مَا قَالَ لَكَ عَمْرٌو؟ قَالَ قَالَ أَنَا أَعْلَمُ بِهَذَا مِنْكَ يَا أَبَا شُرَيْحٍ إِنَّ الْحَرَمَ لَا يُعِيذُ عَاصِيًا وَلَا فَارًّا بِدَمٍ وفَارًّا بِخَرْبَةٍ

✧ Shall I tell you a statement that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ made the day after the conquest? My two ears heard it, my heart comprehended it, and my two eyes saw him when he said it. He praised Allah and extolled Him, then said: 'Allah made Makkah sacred, not the people. It is not lawful for any person who believes in Allah and the Last Day to shed blood in it or to cut down its trees. If anyone uses the fighting of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ as an excuse, say to him: Allah permitted His Messenger but did not permit you. It was only permitted to me for a short time during the day, and today its sanctity has returned as it was yesterday. Let those present convey to those absent.' It was said to Abu Shuraih, 'What did 'Amr say to you?' He said, 'He said: I know this better than you, O Abu Shuraih. The sanctuary does not protect a disobedient person, nor one fleeing after shedding blood, nor one fleeing after committing a crime.'
