حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ حَفْصٍ السَّدُوسِيُّ ثنا عَاصِمُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ يَحْيَى السَّاجِيُّ ثنا هُدْبَةُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ ثنا شَيْبَانُ بْنُ فَرُّوخٍ قَالُوا ثنا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ الْمُغِيرَةِ عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ هِلَالٍ قَالَ قَالَ

هِشَامُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ أَتَتِ الْأَنْصَارُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَوْمَ أُحُدٍ فَقَالُوا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَرْحٌ وَجَهْدٌ فَمَا تَأْمُرُنَا؟ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «احْفِرُوا وَأَوْسِعُوا وَاجْعَلُوا الرَّجُلَيْنِ وَالثَّلَاثَةَ فِي الْقَبْرِ» فَقَالُوا أَيُّهُمْ نُقَدِّمُ؟ قَالَ «وَقَدِّمُوا أَكْثَرَهُمْ قُرْآنًا» فَقَدَّمُوا أَبِي بَيْنَ رَجُلَيْنِ أَوِ اثْنَيْنِ

✧ Hishām b. 'Āmir: The Ansār came to the Messenger of God ﷺ on the day of Uhud and said: "O Messenger of God, there is wounding and hardship. What do you command us?" The Messenger of God ﷺ said: "Dig graves, make them wide, and put two or three men in the grave." They said: "Which of them should we put forward?" He said: "Put forward the one who knows the most Qur'an." So they put my father forward between two men, or two others.
