حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ثنا مُسَدَّدٌ ثنا عَبْدُ الْوَارِثِ عَنْ أَيُّوبَ عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ هِلَالٍ عَنْ أَبِي الدَّهْمَاءِ عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عَامِرٍ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «احْفِرُوا وَأَحْسِنُوا وَأَوْسِعُوا وَادْفِنُوا الِاثْنَيْنِ وَالثَّلَاثَةَ فِي قَبْرٍ وَقَدِّمُوا أَكْثَرَهُمْ قُرْآنًا» فَقُدِّمَ أَبِي بَيْنَ يَدَيْ رَجُلَيْنِ زَادَ عَبْدُ الْوَارِثِ فِي إِسْنَادِ هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ أَبَا الدَّهْمَاءِ

Translation

✧ that the Messenger of God ﷺ said: "Dig graves, make them good, make them wide, and bury two or three in a grave, and put forward the one who knows the most Qur'an." So my father was put forward in front of two men. 'Abd al-Wārith added to the chain of this hadith: Abū al-Dahmā'.
