حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ مِنْدَهِ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ ثنا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ الْخَطَّابِيُّ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ أَبِي دَاوُدَ ثنا وَحْشِيُّ بْنُ حَرْبِ بْنِ وَحْشِيٍّ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ
أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ قَالَ «يُوشِكُ الْعِلْمُ أَنْ يُخْتَلَسَ مِنَ النَّاسِ حَتَّى لَا تَقْدُرُونَ مِنْهُ عَلَى شَيْءٍ» فَقَالَ زِيَادُ بْنُ لَبِيدٍ وَكَيْفَ يُخْتَلَسُ مِنَّا الْعِلْمُ وَقَدْ قَرَأْنَا الْقُرْآنَ وأَقْرَأْنَاهُ أَبْنَاءَنَا؟ قَالَ «ثَكِلَتْكَ أُمُّكَ يَا ابْنَ لَبِيدٍ هَذِهِ التَّوْرَاةُ وَالْإِنْجِيلُ بِأَيْدِي الْيَهُودِ وَالنَّصَارَى مَا يَرْفَعُونَ بِهَا رَأْسًا»

✧ The Prophet ﷺ said, "Knowledge is about to be snatched away from people until you will not be able to attain any of it." Ziyad b. Labid said, "How will knowledge be snatched away from us when we have recited the Qur'an and taught it to our children?" He said, "May your mother be bereaved of you, O Ibn Labid! This Torah and Gospel are in the hands of the Jews and Christians, yet they do not raise their heads with them."
