حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو الْبَزَّارُ وأَحْمَدُ بْنُ زُهَيْرٍ التُّسْتَرِيُّ قَالَا ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ بْنِ كَرَامَةَ ثنا عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُوسَى ثنا يُوسُفُ بْنُ صُهَيْبٍ عَنْ دُكَيْنٍ عَنْ وَهْبِ بْنِ حَمْزَةَ قَالَ
صَحِبْتُ عَلِيًّا مِنَ الْمَدِينَةِ إِلَى مَكَّةَ فَرَأَيْتُ مِنْهُ بَعْضَ مَا أَكْرَهُ فَقُلْتُ لَئِنْ رَجَعْتُ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللهِ لَأَشْكُوَنَّكَ إِلَيْهِ فَلَمَّا قَدِمْتُ لَقِيتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ فَقُلْتُ رَأَيْتُ مِنْ عَلِيٍّ كَذَا وَكَذَا فَقَالَ «لَا تَقُلْ هَذَا فَهُوَ أَوْلَى النَّاسِ بِكُمْ بَعْدِي»

✧ I accompanied ʿAli from Madinah to Makkah and saw some things from him that I disliked. I said, “If I return to the Messenger of God, I will surely complain about you to him.” When I arrived, I met the Messenger of God ﷺ and said, “I saw such-and-such from ʿAli.” He said, “Do not say this, for he is the most entitled of people to you after me.”
