حَدَّثَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ الْأَسْفَاطِيُّ ثنا عُبَيْدُ بْنُ يَعِيشَ ثنا زَكَرِيَّا بْنُ عَدِيٍّ عَنْ حَفْصِ بْنِ غِيَاثٍ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي خَالِدٍ عَنْ أَبِي جُحَيْفَةَ قَالَ

رَأَيْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ وَأُتِيَ بِثَوْبٍ مِنَ الْقَصَّارِ أَوْ يَذْهَبُ بِهِ إِلَى الْقَصَّارَ وَعَلَيْهِ مَكْتُوبٌ شَيْطَانُ فَأَمَرَ بِهِ فَمُحِيَ وَقَالَ «أَعُوذُ بِاللهِ مِنَ الشَّيْطَانِ» رَفَعَهُ عُبَيْدُ بْنُ يَعِيشَ وَوَقَفَهُ غَيْرُهُ

✧ I saw the Prophet ﷺ when a garment was brought from the fuller—or being taken to the fuller—with 'Satan' written on it. He ordered it to be erased, and he said, "I seek refuge in God from Satan." Ubayd b. Ya'ish raised it [as a Prophetic hadith], while others left it as the statement of a Companion.
