حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو مُسْلِمٍ الْكَشِّيُّ ويُوسُفُ الْقَاضِي قَالَا ثنا عَمْرُو بْنُ مَرْزُوقٍ أَنَا شُعْبَةُ عَنْ سِمَاكٍ عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنِ وَائِلٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ

شَهِدْتُ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ وَسَأَلَهُ سُوَيْدُ بْنُ طَارِقٍ عَنِ الْخَمْرِ فَنَهَاهُ فَقَالَ نَتَدَاوَى بِهَا وَيَجْعَلُ فِي الدَّوَاءِ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «لَيْسَتْ بِدَوَاءٍ وَلَكِنَّهَا دَاءٌ»

✧ I witnessed the Prophet ﷺ when Suwayd b. Ṭāriq asked him about wine, and he forbade him. He said: We treat illness with it and put it in medicine. The Prophet ﷺ said: “It is not a medicine, but a disease.”
