حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ النَّضْرِ الْأَزْدِيُّ ثنا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ثنا زَائِدَةُ عَنْ حُصَيْنٍ قَالَ ذَكَرَ عَمْرُو بْنُ مُرَّةَ عَنْ عَلْقَمَةَ بْنِ وَائِلٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ

عَنِ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فِي «رَفْعِ يَدَيْهِ لِلصَّلَاةِ» قَالَ حُصَيْنٌ فَقَالَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ مَا أَدْرِي لَعَلَّ وَائِلًا لَمْ يَرَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ غَيْرَ ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمِ فَكَيْفَ حَفِظَهُ؟ وَلَمْ يَحْفَظْهُ عَبْدُ اللهِ وَأَصْحَابُهُ هُوَ أَعْلَمُ بِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ أَمْ عَبْدُ اللهِ فَإِنَّمَا كَانَ يَرْفَعُ يَدَيْهِ افْتِتَاحًا

✧ From the Prophet ﷺ regarding “raising his hands for the prayer.” Ḥuṣayn said: Ibrāhīm said: I do not know; perhaps Wāʾil did not see the Prophet ﷺ except on that day, so how did he memorize it while ʿAbd Allāh and his companions did not memorize it? Is he more knowledgeable about the Messenger of God ﷺ, or ʿAbd Allāh? He only used to raise his hands at the opening.
