al-Mu'jam al-Kabir (al-Tabarani) 18294

✧ Ma'mar b. Abdullah b. Nudlah al-'Adawi al-Qurashi, and he is Ma'mar b. Abdullah b. Nudlah b. Harthan b. 'Awf b. 'Ubaid b. 'Uwaj b. Adi b. Ka'b. His mother is Ash'ariyah. And he was one of the immigrants from Abyssinia who came to the Prophet ﷺ in the two ships.

حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ هَارُونَ ثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ رَاهَوَيْهِ أَنَا وَهْبُ بْنُ جَرِيرٍ قَالَ سَمِعْتُ أَبِي قَالَ سَمِعْتُ مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ إِسْحَاقَ يَقُولُ حَدَّثَنِي يَزِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي حَبِيبٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عُقْبَةَ قَالَ

سَمِعْتُ مَعْمَرًا يَقُولُ كُنْتُ أَرْحَلُ لِرَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ «يَا مَعْمَرُ» قَالَ «وَجَدْتُ اللَّيْلَةَ فِي أَنْسَاعِي اضْطِرَابًا» فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ لَقَدْ شَدَدْتُهَا كَمَا كُنْتُ أَشُدُّهَا وَلَكِنْ أَرَادَ مَنْ يَنْفِسُ عَلَيَّ ذَلِكَ أَنْ يَسْتَبْدِلَ بِي فَقَالَ «أَمَا إِنِّي غَيْرُ فَاعِلٍ ذَلِكَ» فَلَمَّا فَرَغَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مِن حَجَّهِ أَمَرَنِي فَأَخَذْتُ الْمُوسَى فَصَقَلْتُهَا فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «يَا مَعْمَرُ أَمْكَنَكَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ مِن شَحْمَةِ أُذُنِهِ وَفِي يَدِكَ الْمُوسَى» فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ إِنِّي أَرَى ذَلِك مَنًَّا عَلَيَّ وَفَضْلًا قَالَ «أَجَلْ» قَالَ فَزِدْ ذَلِكَ

✧ I heard Ma'mar say: I used to saddle the mount for the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. The Prophet ﷺ said, "O Ma'mar, tonight I found looseness in my saddle straps." I said, "O Messenger of Allah, I fastened them as I always fasten them, but someone who grudges me that wants to replace me." He said, "Indeed, I will not do that." When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ finished his Hajj, he ordered me, and I took the razor and sharpened it. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "O Ma'mar, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ has given you access to the lobe of his ear while the razor is in your hand." I said, "O Messenger of Allah, I regard that as a favor and grace to me." He said, "Yes." He said, "Then increase that."
