حَدَّثَنَا إِدْرِيسُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ الْعَطَّارُ ثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ أَنَا دَاوُدُ بْنُ أَبِي هِنْدٍ عَنْ أَبِي الْعَالِيَةِ عَنْ فَضَالَةَ بْنِ عَمْرٍو الزَّهْرَانِيِّ عَنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ قَالَ
كُنَّا مَعَ النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فِي مَنْزِلِهِ فَاتَّبَعْتُهُ فَقَالَ «أَيْنَ تَرَكْتَ النَّاسَ؟» فَقُلْتُ تَرَكْتُهُمْ بِمَكَانِ كَذَا وَكَذَا فَأَنَاخَ رَاحِلَتَهُ فَنَزَلَ ثُمَّ ذَهَبَ فَتَوَارَى عَنِّي فَاحْتَبَسَ بِقَدْرِ مَا يَقْضِي الرَّجُلُ حَاجَتَهُ ثُمَّ جَاءَ فَقَالَ «أَمَعَكَ مَاءٌ؟» قُلْتُ نَعَمْ فَصَبَبْتُ عَلَى يَدَيْهِ فَغَسَلَ وَجْهَهُ وَيَدَيْهِ وَمَسَحَ رَأْسَهُ وَعَلَيْهِ جُبَّةٌ شَامِيَّةٌ قَدْ ضَاقَتْ يَدَاهَا فَأَدْخَلَ يَدَهُ مِنْ تَحْتِ الْجُبَّةِ فَرَفَعَهَا عَنْ يَدَيْهِ ثُمَّ غَسَلَ يَدَيْهِ وَوَجْهَهُ وَمَسَحَ عَلَى رَأْسِهِ وَخُفَّيْهِ ثُمَّ قَالَ «أَلَكَ حَاجَةٌ؟» قُلْتُ لَا قَالَ فَرَكِبْنَا حَتَّى أَدْرَكْنَا النَّاسَ

✧ We were with the Prophet ﷺ at his stopping place, and I followed him. He said, “Where did you leave the people?” I said, “I left them at such-and-such a place.” He made his mount kneel and dismounted, then went away and concealed himself from me. He stayed away for about as long as a man takes to relieve himself, then came back and said, “Do you have water with you?” I said, “Yes.” So I poured water over his hands, and he washed his face and his hands, and wiped his head. He was wearing a Syrian jubbah whose sleeves were tight, so he inserted his hand from beneath the jubbah and raised it up over his hands, then washed his hands and his face, and wiped his head and his leather socks. Then he said, “Do you need anything?” I said, “No.” He said, “Then we rode on until we caught up with the people.”
