حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ثنا سَهْلُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ ثنا ابْنُ فُضَيْلٍ الْمُحَارِبِيُّ عَنْ أَشْعَثَ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَانُ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ ثنا وَاصِلُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ فُضَيْلٍ عَنْ أَشْعَثَ بْنِ سَوَّارٍ عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ مُدْرِكٍ عَنْ تَمِيمِ بْنِ طَرَفَةَ عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ قَالَ
صَلَّيْنَا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَأَوْمَأَ إِلَيْنَا أَنِ اجْلِسُوا فَجَلَسْنَا فَقَالَ «مَا يَمْنَعُكُمْ أَنْ تَصُفُّوا كَمَا تَصُفُّ الْمَلَائِكَةُ عِنْدَ الرَّحْمَنِ؟» قَالُوا وَكَيْفَ يَصُفُّونَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ؟ قَالَ «يُتِمُّونَ الصُّفُوفَ الْأُولَى ويَرْصُفُونَ فِي الصُّفُوفِ رَصْفًا أَوْ يَرُصُّوها رَصًّا»

✧ We prayed with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he gestured to us to sit, so we sat. Then he said: “What prevents you from forming rows as the angels form rows in the presence of the Most Merciful?” They said, “And how do they form rows, O Messenger of Allah?” He said: “They complete the first rows and align themselves in the rows in a compact manner.”
