حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ وَأَبُو حَاتِمٍ رَوْحُ بْنُ الْفَرَجِ الْبَغْدَادِيُّ قَالَا ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ زُنْبُورٍ ثنا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَابِرٍ عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيلَ بْنِ أَبِي خَالِدٍ عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ أَبِي حَازِمٍ عَنِ الْمُسْتَوْرِدِ بْنِ شَدَّادٍ قَالَ قَالَ الْمِقْدَادُ بْنُ الْأَسْوَدِ قَالَ
لَمَّا هَاجَرْنَا إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ قَسَمَنَا رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ عَشَرَةً عَشَرَةً فَكُنْتُ فِي الْعَشَرَةِ الَّذِينَ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَكَانَتْ لَنَا شَاةٌ نَشْرَبُ لَبَنَهَا بَيْنَنَا فَأَبْطَأَ عَلَيْنَا لَيْلَةً وَقَدْ رَفَعْنَا لَهُ نَصِيبَهُ فَقُمْتُ إِلَيْهِ وَأَنَا جَائِعٌ فَشَرِبْتُهُ فَجَاءَ النَّبِيُّ ﷺ وَلَمْ أَنَمْ فَأَتَى الْإِنَاءَ الَّذِي كُنَّا نَضَعُ فِيهِ اللَّبَنَ فَنَظَرَ فَلَمْ يَجِدْ فِيهِ شَيْئًا فَوَثَبْتُ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ أَلَا أَذْبَحُهَا لَكَ؟ قَالَ «لَا»

✧ When we emigrated to Madinah, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ divided us into groups of ten, so I was among the ten who were with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. We had a sheep whose milk we drank among ourselves. One night he was late, and we had set aside his share. I got up while hungry and drank it. Then the Prophet ﷺ came while I had not slept. He came to the vessel in which we used to put the milk and looked but found nothing in it. I jumped up and said: O Messenger of Allah, shall I slaughter it for you? He said: "No."
