حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا أَبُو حُذَيْفَةَ ثنا سُفْيَانُ عَنْ فِرَاسٍ عَنِ الشَّعْبِيِّ عَنْ مَسْرُوقٍ قَالَ
أُتِيَ عَبْدُ اللهِ فِي رَجُلٍ تَرَكَ امْرَأَتَهُ وَلَمْ يَكُنْ دَخَلَ بِهَا فَتَرَدَّدُوا إِلَيْهِ فِيهَا شَهْرًا لَا يَقْضِي فِيهَا بِشَيْءٍ فَقَالَ أَقُولُ فِيهَا بِرَأْيِي فَإِنْ يَكُنْ خَطَأً فَمِنْ نَفْسِي وَإِنْ يَكُنْ صَوَابًا فَمِنَ اللهِ «مِثْلُ مَهْرِ نِسَائِهَا وَعَلَيْهَا الْعِدَّةُ وَلَهَا الْمِيرَاثُ» فَقَامَ أَبُو سِنَانٍ الْأَشْجَعِيُّ فَقَالَ «قَضَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ فِي بَرْوَعَ بِنْتِ وَاشِقٍ بِذَلِكَ» فَفَرِحَ بِذَلِكَ عَبْدُ اللهِ

✧ 'Abdullah was brought a case of a man who left behind his wife and had not consummated the marriage with her. They referred it back to him concerning her for a month, and he did not rule anything. He said, "I will give my opinion concerning her. If it is wrong, it is from myself, and if it is correct, it is from Allah: the like of her peers' dower, upon her the waiting period, and she has the inheritance." Abu Sinan al-Ashja'i stood up and said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ ruled in the case of Barwa' bint Washiq with that." 'Abdullah was pleased with that.
