حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْحِنَّائِي ثنا أَبُو كَامِلٍ الْجَحْدَرِيُّ ثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ عَنْ خَالِدٍ الْحَذَّاءِ عَنِ الْحَكَمِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللهِ بْنِ الْأَعْرَجِ عَنْ مَعْقِلِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ قَالَ
«لَقَدْ رَأَيْتُنِي يَوْمَ الشَّجَرَةِ وَالنَّبِيُّ ﷺ» يُبَايِعُ النَّاسَ وَأَنَا رَافِعٌ غُصْنًا مِنْ أَغْصَانِهَا عَنْ رَأْسَهِ لَمْ نُبَايِعْهُ عَلَى الْمَوْتِ وَلَكِنْ بَايَعْنَاهُ عَلَى أَنْ لَا نَفِرَّ

✧ "I saw myself on the day of the tree while the Prophet ﷺ" was accepting the people's allegiance, and I was lifting a branch of its branches from his head. We did not pledge allegiance to him upon death, but rather we pledged allegiance to him that we would not flee.
