حَدَّثَنَا الْمِقْدَامُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ ثنا أَسَدُ بْنُ مُوسَى ثنا الرَّبِيعُ بْنُ صُبَيْحٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ أَنَّ عُبَيْدَ اللهِ بْنَ زِيَادٍ دَخَلَ عَلَى مَعْقِلِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ وَهُوَ ثَقِيلٌ فَقَالَ
أَمَا إِنِّي سَأُحَدِّثُكَ بِحَدِيثٍ لَوْلَا الْحَالُ الَّتِي أَنَا عَلَيْهَا مَا حَدَّثْتُ بِهِ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «مَنِ اسْتَرْعَاهُ اللهُ رَعِيَّةً لَمْ يَحُطْ مَنْ وَرَاءَهَا بِالنَّصِيحَةِ فَهُوَ مِنْ أَهْلِ النَّارِ» قَالَ أَفَلَا كَانَ هَذَا قَبْلَ هَذَا؟

✧ 'Indeed, I will tell you a hadith that, were it not for the state I am in, I would not have reported. I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: 'Whoever Allah places in charge of a flock and does not surround those behind it with sincere advice is among the people of the Fire.' He said: 'Should this not have been before now?'
