حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ ثنا شَيْبَانُ بْنُ فَرُّوخٍ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدُوسِ بْنِ كَامِلٍ وَمُوسَى بْنُ هَارُونَ قَالَا ثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْجَعْدِ قَالَا ثنا أَبُو الْأَشْهَبِ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ قَالَ عَادَ عُبَيْدُ اللهِ بْنُ زِيَادٍ مَعْقِلَ بْنَ يَسَارٍ فِي مَرَضِهِ الَّذِي قُبِضَ فِيهِ فَقَالَ

مَعْقِلٌ إِنِّي مُحَدِّثُكَ بِحَدِيثٍ سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ لَوْ عَلِمْتُ أَنَّ لِي حَيَاةً مَا حَدَّثْتُكَ بِهِ سَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ «مَا مِنْ عَبْدٍ يَسْتَرْعِيهِ اللهُ رَعِيَّةً يَمُوتُ يَوْمَ يَمُوتُ غَاشًّا لِرَعِيَّتِهِ إِلَّا حَرَّمَ اللهُ عَلَيْهِ الْجَنَّةَ» وَاللَّفْظُ لِعَلِيِّ بْنِ الْجَعْدِ

✧ 'Ma'qil, I will tell you a hadith I heard from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. If I knew that I had any life left, I would not have told it to you. I heard him say: 'There is no servant whom Allah places in charge of a flock who dies on the day he dies while he is deceiving his flock but Allah will forbid Paradise to him.'' And the wording is that of 'Ali b. al-Ja'd.
