حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ هَارُونَ ثنا شَيْبَانُ بْنُ فَرُّوخٍ ثنا سَلَّامُ بْنُ مِسْكِينٍ أَبُو رَوْحٍ ثنا أَبُو عَتَّابٍ عَنِ الْحَسَنِ قَالَ دَخَلَ زِيَادٌ عَلَى مَعْقِلِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ وَهُوَ مَرِيضٌ يَعُودُهُ

فَحَدَّثَهُ وَسَأَلَهُ ولَاطَفَهُ فَبَيْنَا هُمْ كَذَلِكَ إِذْ قَالَ مَعْقِلٌ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ يَقُولُ «مَا مِنْ وَالٍ وَلِيَ مِنْ أَمَرِ الْمُسْلِمِينَ شَيْئًا فَلَمْ يَحُطْ مَنْ وَرَاءَهُمْ بِالنَّصِيحَةِ إِلَّا أَكَبَّهُ اللهُ فِي جَهَنَّمَ عَلَى وَجْهِهِ يَوْمَ يَجْمَعُ اللهُ الْأَوَّلِينَ وَالْآخِرِينَ»

Translation

✧ So he narrated to him and asked him and was courteous to him. While they were thus, Ma'qil said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say: 'There is no governor who is put in charge of any affair of the Muslims and does not sincerely advise those behind him but Allah will cast him into Hell on his face on the day when Allah gathers the first and the last.'
