حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ هَارُونَ ثنا مُحْرِزُ بْنُ عَوْنٍ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَلَوِيَّةَ الْقَطَّانُ ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عِيسَى الْعَطَّارُ قَالَا ثنا خَلَفُ بْنُ خَلِيفَةَ عَنْ أَبِي مَالِكٍ الْأَشْجَعِيِّ عَنْ أَبِي حُصَيْنٍ عَنِ الْأَسْوَدِ بْنِ هِلَالٍ عَنْ مُعَاذِ بْنِ جَبَلٍ قَالَ
كُنْتُ رِدْفَ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ عَلَى حِمَارٍ فَقَالَ لِي «يَا مُعَاذُ بْنَ جَبَلٍ مَا حَقُّ اللهِ عَلَى الْعِبَادِ؟» قُلْتُ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ «أَنْ يَعْبُدُوهُ وَلَا يُشْرِكُوا بِهِ شَيْئًا» ثُمَّ قَالَ لِي «يَا مُعَاذُ مَا حَقُّ الْعِبَادِ عَلَى اللهِ إِذَا فَعَلُوا ذَلِكَ؟» قُلْتُ اللهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ قَالَ «أَنْ لَا يُعَذِّبَهُمْ»

✧ I was riding behind the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on a donkey. He said to me, "O Mu'adh b. Jabal, what is the right of Allah upon His servants?" I said, "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said, "That they worship Him and do not associate anything with Him." Then he said to me, "O Mu'adh, what is the right of the servants upon Allah if they do that?" I said, "Allah and His Messenger know best." He said, "That He will not punish them."
