✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent me to collect zakat from the people of Yemen and commanded me to take from cattle: from every thirty, a tabi' (one-year-old male calf); from every forty, a musinnah (two-year-old female); from sixty, two tabi's; from seventy, a musinnah and a tabi'; from eighty, two musinnahs; from ninety, three tabi's; from one hundred, a musinnah and two tabi's; from one hundred and twenty, three musinnahs or four tabi's. And he commanded me not to take anything below that until it reaches a musinnah or a jadha'ah (a one-year-old sheep or goat). He said: 'The awqas (young animals below the zakat threshold) have no obligatory due.' Awqas means the young ones.
