حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ الْعَبَّاسِ الرَّازِيُّ وَعَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ سَلْمٍ وَالْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ التُّسْتَرِيُّ قَالُوا ثنا سَهْلُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ ثنا أَبُو يَحْيَى الْحِمَّانِيُّ عَنْ أَبِي الْعَطُوفِ عَنِ الْوَضِينِ بْنِ عَطَاءٍ عَنْ عُبَادَةَ بْنِ نَسِيٍّ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ غَنْمٍ عَنْ مُعَاذِ بْنِ جَبَلٍ
أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ لَمَّا أَرَادَ أَنْ يُسَرِّحَ مُعَاذًا إِلَى الْيَمَنِ اسْتَشَارَ نَاسًا مَنْ أَصْحَابِهِ فِيهِمْ أَبُو بَكْرٍ وعُمَرُ وَعُثْمَانُ وَعَلِيٌّ وَطَلْحَةُ وَالزُّبَيْرُ وَأُسَيْدُ بْنُ حُضَيْرٍ فَاسْتَشَارَهُمْ فَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ لَوْلَا أَنَّكَ اسْتَشَرْتَنَا مَا تَكَلَّمْنَا فَقَالَ «إِنِّي فِيمَا لَمْ يُوحَ إِلَيَّ كَأَحَدِكُمْ» قَالَ فَتَكَلَّمَ الْقَوْمُ فَتَكَلَّمَ كُلُّ إِنْسَانٍ بِرَأْيِهِ فَقَالَ «مَا تَرَى يَا مُعَاذُ؟» قَالَ أَرَى مَا قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «إِنَّ اللهَ ﷻ يَكْرَهُ فَوْقَ سَمَائِهِ أَنْ يُخْطِئَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ ؓ »

✧ When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ wanted to send Muadh to Yemen, he consulted some of his companions, among them Abu Bakr, Umar, Uthman, Ali, Talhah, al-Zubayr, and Usayd b. Hudayr. He consulted them, and Abu Bakr said: “Were it not that you consulted us, we would not have spoken.” He said: “In matters about which nothing has been revealed to me, I am like one of you.” Then the people spoke, each one speaking according to his own opinion. He said: “What do you think, O Muadh?” He said: “I think what Abu Bakr said.” The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: “Allah, exalted is He, hates, above His heaven, that Abu Bakr ؓ should err.”
