✧ When we were at al-Ghamim, news came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ from Quraysh that they had sent Khalid b. al-Walid with a troop of cavalry to meet the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ disliked meeting him, and he was merciful toward them. He said: "Who is a man who will turn us away from the road?" I said: I, may my father be your ransom. So he took them on a road that had rough stony ground, hillocks, and an 'uqab (steep pass). The land leveled out for us until he brought him down at al-Hudaybiyah, which was a dry well. He tilted into it an arrow, or his arrow, from his quiver, then spat into it, then supplicated, and its springs gushed forth until I say, or we say: If we wished, we could scoop water with our hands.
