حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ ثنا عَارِمٌ أَبُو النُّعْمَانِ وَحَدَّثَنَا يُوسُفُ الْقَاضِي ثنا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَهَّابِ الْحَجَبِيُّ قَالَا ثنا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ عَنْ بَهْزِ بْنِ حَكِيمٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ قَالَ
قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ عَوْرَاتُنَا مَا نَأْتِي مِنْهَا وَمَا نَذَرُ؟ قَالَ «اسْتُرْ عَوْرَتَكَ إِلَّا مِنْ زَوْجِكَ أَوْ مَا مَلَكَتْ يَمِينُكَ» زَادَ الْحَجَبِيُّ فِي حَدِيثِهِ قُلْتُ الْقَوْمُ بَعْضُهُمْ فِي بَعْضٍ؟ قَالَ «إِنِ اسْتَطَعْتَ أَنْ لَا يَرَاهَا أَحَدٌ فَلَا يَرَيَنَّهَا» قُلْتُ فَإِذَا كَانَ أَحَدُنَا خَالِيًا؟ قَالَ «فَاللهُ أَحَقُّ أَنْ يُسْتَحْيَى مِنْهُ»

✧ I said: O Messenger of Allah, our private areas, what may we expose of them and what may we leave? He said: “Cover your private area except from your wife or those whom your right hand possesses.” Al-Hajabi added in his narration: I said: What about people being among one another? He said: “If you can ensure that no one sees it, then let no one see it.” I said: What if one of us is alone? He said: “Allah is more deserving that one be shy before Him.”
