حَدَّثَنَا الْمِقْدَامُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ ثنا أَسَدُ بْنُ مُوسَى ثنا عَدِيُّ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ عَنْ بَهْزِ بْنِ حَكِيمٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ قَالَ

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ «لَا يَأْتِي رَجُلٌ مَوْلَاهُ فَيَسْأَلَهُ فَضْلًا عِنْدَهُ فَيَمْنَعَهُ إِلَّا جَعَلَ اللهُ لَهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ شُجَاعًا أَقْرَعَ فَضْلَهُ الَّذِي يَمْنَعُ»

Translation

Chain of narrators
  1. al-Miqdām b. Dāwud
  2. Asad b. Mūsá
  3. ʿAdī b. al-Faḍl
  4. Bahz b. Ḥakīm from his father from his grandfather

✧ The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "A man does not approach his leader asking for favors from him, and the leader withholds them, except that Allah will make him on the Day of Resurrection a coward, deafening his favor that he withholds."
