حَدَّثَنَا الْمِقْدَامُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ ثنا أَسَدُ بْنُ مُوسَى ثنا عَدِيُّ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ عَنْ بَهْزِ بْنِ حَكِيمٍ عَنْ أَبِيهِ عَنْ جَدِّهِ قَالَ

قُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ مَنْ أَبَرُّ؟ قَالَ «أُمَّكَ» قُلْتُ ثُمَّ مَنْ؟ قَالَ «ثُمَّ أُمَّكَ» قُلْتُ ثُمَّ مَنْ؟ قَالَ «ثُمَّ أُمَّكَ» قُلْتُ ثُمَّ مَنْ؟ قَالَ «ثُمَّ أَبَاكَ» قُلْتُ ثُمَّ مَنْ؟ قَالَ «ثُمَّ الْأَقْرَبَ فَالْأَقْرَبَ»

Translation

✧ I said: O Messenger of Allah, whom should I treat with the utmost devotion? He said: "Your mother." I said: Then whom? He said: "Then your mother." I said: Then whom? He said: "Then your mother." I said: Then whom? He said: "Then your father." I said: Then whom? He said: "Then the nearest relative, then the next nearest."
