حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ صَدَقَةَ الْبَغْدَادِيُّ ثنا الْهَيْثَمُ بْنُ مَرْوَانَ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ ثنا زَيْدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ عُبَيْدٍ ثنا سَعِيدُ بْنُ بِشْرٍ عَنْ أَبِي بِشْرٍ عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللهِ بْنَ الزُّبَيْرِ قَالَ

لِمُعَاوِيَةَ فِي الْكَلَامِ الَّذِي جَرَى بَيْنَهُمَا فِي بَيْعَةِ يَزِيدَ وَأَنْتَ يَا مُعَاوِيَةُ أَخْبَرَتْنِي أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ «إِذَا كَانَ فِي الْأَرْضِ خَلِيفَتَانِ فَاقْتُلُوا أَحَدَهُمَا»

✧ [He said] to Mu'awiya during the exchange between them regarding the pledge to Yazid: "And you, O Mu'awiya, informed me that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, 'If there are two caliphs on earth, kill one of them.'"
