حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ مِنْدَةَ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ ثنا حُمَيْدُ بْنُ مَسْعَدَةَ ثنا الْفَضْلُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ ثنا أَشْعَثُ بْنُ سَوَّارٍ عَنْ أَبِي الْأَحْوَصِ عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ عَنْ أَبِي الْأَحْوَصِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ قَالَ

دَخَلْتُ عَلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ وَعَلِيَّ خُلْقَانٌ مِنْ ثِيَابٍ فَقَالَ «لَكَ مَالٌ؟» قُلْتُ نَعَمْ مِنْ كُلِّ الْمَالِ قَدْ آتَانِي اللهُ فَعَدَّ الْخَيْلَ وَالْإِبِلَ وَالرَّقِيقَ وَالْغَنَمَ قَالَ «إِذَا آتَاكَ اللهُ خَيْرًا فَلْيُرَ عَلَيْكَ»

✧ I entered upon the Prophet ﷺ wearing worn-out clothes. He said, “Do you have wealth?” I said, “Yes, of every kind of wealth God has given me,” and he enumerated horses, camels, slaves, and sheep. He said, “When God gives you good, let it be visible upon you.”
