حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللهِ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ وَإِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ نَائِلَةَ الْأَصْبَهَانِيُّ قَالَا ثنا الصَّلْتُ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ الْجَحْدَرِيُّ ح وَحَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ الْبَغَوِيُّ ثنا أَبُو كَامِلٍ الْجَحْدَرِيُّ ثنا فُضَيْلُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ الْبَصْرِيُّ ثنا يُونُسُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ فَضَالَةَ الظَّفَرِيُّ

عَنْ أَبِيهِ وَكَانَ مِمَّنْ صَحِبَ النَّبِيَّ ﷺ أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ أَتَاهُمْ فِي مَسْجِدِ بَنِي ظُفُرٍ فَجَلَسَ عَلَى الصَّخْرَةِ الَّتِي فِي مَسْجِدِ بَنِي ظُفُرٍ الْيَوْمَ وَمَعَهُ عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ مَسْعُودٍ وَمُعَاذُ بْنُ جَبَلٍ وَأُنَاسٌ مِنْ أَصْحَابِهِ فَأَمَرَ رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ قَارِئًا فَقَرَأَ حَتَّى أَتَى عَلَى هَذِهِ الْآيَةِ {فَكَيْفَ إِذَا جِئْنَا مِنْ كُلِّ أُمَّةٍ بِشَهِيدٍ وَجِئْنَا بِكَ عَلَى هَؤُلَاءِ شَهِيدًا} فَبَكَى رَسُولُ اللهِ ﷺ حَتَّى اضْطَرَبَ لَحْيَاهُ فَقَالَ «أَيْ رَبُّ شَهِدْتُ عَلَى مَنْ أَنَا بَيْنَ ظَهْرَيْهِ فَكَيْفَ بِمَنْ لَمْ أَرَ؟»

✧ From his father, who was among those who accompanied the Prophet ﷺ, that the Messenger of God ﷺ came to them in the mosque of Banu Zufar and sat on the rock that is in the mosque of Banu Zufar today, with him Abdullah b. Mas'ud, Mu'adh b. Jabal, and some of his companions. The Messenger of God ﷺ commanded a reciter, and he recited until he came to this verse: {How will it be when We bring from every nation a witness, and We bring you as a witness against these?} The Messenger of God ﷺ wept until his jaws trembled, then said, "O Lord, I bore witness over those among whom I lived, so what about those I did not see?"
