حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ثنا مُسَدَّدٌ ثنا خَالِدٌ ثنا حُصَيْنٌ عَنْ عَامِرٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ صَيْفِيٍّ الْأَنْصَارِيِّ

أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللهِ ﷺ قَالَ يَوْمَ عَاشُورَاءَ «مَنْ كَانَ مِنْكُمْ طَعِمَ فَلْيُمْسِكْ بَقِيَّةَ يَوْمِهِ وَمَنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ طَعِمَ فَلْيَصُمْ» وَأَرْسَلَ إِلَى أَهْلِ الْعَرُوضِ فَأَمَرَهُمْ بِصَوْمِهِ

Translation

✧ The Messenger of God ﷺ said on the day of ʿĀshūrāʾ: “Whoever among you has eaten should abstain for the rest of his day, and whoever has not eaten should fast.” And he sent word to the people of al-ʿArūḍ and ordered them to fast it.
