حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى بْنِ مُعَاذِ بْنِ مُعَاذٍ الْعَسْكَرِيُّ ثنا أَبِي ثنا ابْنُ عَوْنٍ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ جُحَادَةَ عَنْ زَمِيلٍ لَهُ يُخْبِرُ عَنْ أبِيهِ وَكَانَ يُكْنَى أَبَا الْمُنْتَفِقِ قَالَ أَتَيْتُ مَكَّةَ فَسَأَلْتُ
عَنْ رَسُولِ اللهِ ﷺ فَقَالُوا بِعَرَفَةَ فَأَتَيْتُهُ فَذَهَبْتُ أَدْنُو مِنْهُ حَتَّى اجْتَازَ عُنُقُ رَاحِلَتِي عُنُقَ رَاحِلَتِهِ فَقُلْتُ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ عَلِّمْنِي بِمَا يُنَجِّينِي مِنْ عَذَابِ اللهِ وَيُدْخِلُنِي جَنَّتَهُ فَقَالَ «اعْبُدِ اللهَ وَلَا تُشْرِكْ بِهِ شَيْئًا وَأَقِمِ الصَّلَاةَ الْمَكْتُوبَةَ وَأَدِّ الزَّكَاةَ الْمَفْرُوضَةَ وَحِجَّ وَاعْتَمِرْ» وَأَظُنُّهُ قَالَ «وَصُمْ رَمَضَانَ وَانْظُرْ مَا تُحِبُّ لِلنَّاسِ أَنْ يَأْتُوهُ إِلَيْكَ فَافْعَلْهُ بِهِمْ وَمَا تَكْرَهُ أَنْ يَأْتُوهُ إِلَيْكَ فَذَرْهُمْ مِنْهُ» «اضْطَرَبَ ابْنُ عَوْنٍ فِي إِسْنَادِ هَذَا الْحَدِيثِ وَلَمْ يَضْبِطْهُ عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ جُحَادَةَ وَضَبَطَهُ هَمَّامٌ»

✧ from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. They said, "At Arafah." So I went to him, and I started to draw near to him until the neck of my mount passed the neck of his mount. I said, "O Messenger of Allah, teach me what will save me from the punishment of Allah and admit me to His Paradise." He said, "Worship Allah and do not associate anything with Him; establish the prescribed prayer; pay the obligatory zakat; perform Hajj and Umrah," and I think he said, "and fast Ramadan; and look at what you would love people to bring to you and do it to them, and what you would hate them to bring to you, leave them alone from it." "Ibn Awn was confused in the chain of this hadith and did not control it from Muhammad b. Juhadah, but Hammam controlled it."
