حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَهَّابِ بْنِ نَجْدَةَ الْحَوْطِيُّ وَأَبُو زَيْدٍ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ الْحَوْطِيُّ قَالَا ثنا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ ثنا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ عَيَّاشٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللهِ عَنْ جَعْفَرِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ عَنْ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ عَمْرٍو قَالَ سَمِعْتُ كَرْدَمَ بْنَ قَيْسٍ قَالَ §خَرَجْتُ أَنَا وَابْنُ عَمٍّ لِي

يُقَالُ لَهُ أَبُو ثَعْلَبَةَ فِي يَوْمٍ حَارٍّ وَعَلِيَّ حِذَاءٌ وَلَا حِذَاءَ لَهُ فَقَالَ أَعْطِنِي نَعْلَكَ فَقُلْتُ لَا إِلَّا أَنْ تَزَوَّجَنِي ابْنَتَكَ فَقَالَ أَعْطِنِي فَقَدْ زَوَّجْتُكَهَا فَلَمَّا انْصَرَفْنَا بَعَثَ إِلَيَّ بِنَعْلَيَّ وَقَالَ لَا زَوْجَةَ لَكَ عِنْدِي فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِلنَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ «دَعْهَا وَلَا خَيْرَ لَكَ فِيهَا»

✧ He was called Abu Tha‘labah. On a hot day I had sandals and he had none. He said, “Give me your sandal.” I said, “No, unless you marry me to your daughter.” He said, “Give it to me, and I will marry her to you.” When we departed, he sent my sandals back to me and said, “You have no wife with me.” I mentioned that to the Prophet ﷺ, and he said, “Leave her; there is no good for you in her.”
