حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْجَارُودِيُّ ثنا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ حَفْصٍ حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ثنا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ طَهْمَانَ عَنِ السُّدِّيِّ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى عَنْ كَعْبِ بْنِ عُجْرَة قَالَ

قُلْنَا يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ هَذَا السَّلَامُ عَلَيْكَ قَدْ عَلِمْنَا كَيْفَ نُسَلِّمُ عَلَيْكَ فَكَيْفَ الصَّلَاةُ عَلَيْكَ؟ قَالَ قُولُوا اللهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ كَمَا صَلَّيْتَ عَلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ إِنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ اللهُمَّ بَارِكْ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ كَمَا بَارَكْتَ عَلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ إِنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ

Translation

✧ We said, "O Messenger of Allah, we know how to greet you with peace, so how do we pray upon you?" He said, "Say, 'O Allah, send your blessings upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, as you have sent blessings upon Ibrahim. Indeed, You are worthy of praise and glory. O Allah, bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, as You have blessed Ibrahim. Indeed, You are worthy of praise and glory."
