حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللهِ بْنُ أَحْمَدَ بْنِ حَنْبَلٍ حَدَّثَنِي الْحَسَنُ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ الْبَزَّارُ ثنا عَبْدُ الْمَجِيدِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ بْنِ أَبِي رَوَّادٍ عَنِ ابْنِ أَبِي نَجِيحٍ عَنْ مُجَاهِدٍ عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي لَيْلَى عَنْ كَعْبِ بْنِ عُجْرَة أَنَّهُ قَالَ لَهُ أَلَا أُهْدِي لَكَ هَدِيَّةً؟ قَالَ بَلَى قَالَ

جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ ﷺ فَقَالَ يَا رَسُولَ اللهِ قَدْ عَلِمْنَا كَيْفَ نُسَلِّمُ عَلَيْكَ فَكَيْفَ نُصَلِّي عَلَيْكَ؟ قَالَ قُلْ اللهُمَّ صَلِّ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ وَعَلَى آلِ مُحَمَّدٍ كَمَا صَلَّيْتَ عَلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ إِنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ وَبَارِكْ عَلَى مُحَمَّدٍ كَمَا بَارَكْتَ عَلَى إِبْرَاهِيمَ إِنَّكَ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ

✧ A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "O Messenger of Allah, we have learned how to greet you, so how should we pray for you?" He said, "Say: 'O Allah, send peace and blessings upon Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, as You sent peace and blessings upon Ibrahim. Surely, You are praiseworthy, glorious. And bless Muhammad and the family of Muhammad, as You blessed Ibrahim. Surely, You are praiseworthy, glorious."
